We each are superheros and want to "save the world".
Mr. Incredible is strong, handsome, fearless and would do anything for his baby Incredibles..
James is fast, fast, fast (at eating candy), dang cute and says Dang Do (Aka- Thank You) all the time. With candy he will just bring it to me and say Dang Do, as though I already gave him permission to eat it. I think it is a kind of way to manipulate and get what he wants, because he knows just how much we love when he uses his manners.....
Sometimes it works, other times I say no and he lets me know that he doesn't like that response.
Rachel is very quite, not to shy though. She loves to smile and giggle. She is beautiful and defiantly has her own superpower bubble(everything revolves around her- when she is hungry, she'll let you know nice and loudly).
Last, but not least....
Mrs. Incredible, aka Elasta Girl
(Yes, I do stretch between tending to both kids and multi-tasking all the time).
Well, I try many times to act like I am Mrs. Incredible.
My house may seem tidy, yet that is because we know you are coming to visit.
I don't always have a cooked meal on the table for dinner, thankfully Josh likes cereal.
I may seem well put together, hair done, makeup, and matching clothes, but there are days when I wear my comfys all day and my face has not an ounce of mask on.
Laundry is a full time job, even with just the 4 of us, thank goodness we all have a good amount of clothes.
Well, I may be the opposite of incredible, but there is a few things that I know I am Mrs. Incredible at:
1. The love I have for my hubby, big guy and Rachel Roo is Incredible and Indescribable.
2. My testimony and dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ is Incredible and Solid as a Rock.
3. Knowing that I am a child of God and that God is there for me always, no matter what, is something I know and believe. During thick and thin. To know as much as I do that he is watching over me is incredible.
4. The love I have for people is incredible. I am a total people person and find so much joy through friends and family. I never ever want to hurt anyone, but only want to become closer to those who will let me in.
Enough about me....
Let's talk about the fun Halloween we had as a family.
Josh and I usually take turns as to what we want to dress up in for Halloween. It was up to Josh this year and he chose the Incredible family. I bought mine and James;, but made Mr. and babies. I really wanted to keep Rachel girly , so I added a tutu and flower and she was the cutest little Incredible out there.
To get James excited about his costume, I had him watch the movie and when Dash came on, I showed pure excitement and hype as to how cool he was and how fast he could run.
I also bought him the Mr. Incredible figure that talks. By Monday he was pumped about putting his Dash costume on to go to Mother Goose Movement Story time at the Library. He loved the attention, but most of all I think he liked when kids would say, "There's Dash."
On Friday we went to our ward party chili cook-off.
James enjoyed decorating his cookie, while stuffing candy into his mouth too.
What a happy haunting we did have....
Busy and places to go and be, but it was happy.
The funnest part was watching James react to all the people dressed up.
Some of the spooking costumes, especially those with dark and dreary masks, scared him enough to make him cry.
First place we went was the temple. Josh and I committed to going this week and the week was running out Saturday, so we took turns. Then we headed to Nana's house for chili, hugs and visiting. It was raining a ton, so we only went to a few houses. I felt bad for James, the first 5 we went to, no one opened their doors. I am sure James was wondering the meaning of knocking and then what? It only took one house to give us candy that he caught on and loved knocking with his little hands on the big doors. He was so good at saying his thank-yous without me telling him to.
We had one of my old 3rd grade students from last year come trick or treating with us. Her dad was ill and she has no siblings, so she came and helped out. She's a total sweetie and very well mannered. She calls me still Mrs. Nielson and Josh Superman still. I love that she has a mentality that I am so neat and she always tells me how jealous all the other students are that she can see me and talk to me still. ( If she only knew how normal I really am- but I am still and will always be Mrs. Nielson, her 3rd grade teacher to her.
Then Josh had a math tutor meet him at the mall, while I met up with some friends at the mall and ended up leaving because.....all the stores were out of candy. We trick or treated in a community close by of town homes. James loved it and really got the hang of it fast. It was a sight to see, as he would sit in his stroller, get out, grab his big trick or treating bag, knock, wait, smile, eyes grow big seeing the candy and then saying dang do and going through the motions all over again. It took quite a while to go from house to house like this, but he was having the time of his life.
Isn't that what Halloween is all about anyways?
Dressing up, seeing those cute little smiles and spoiling them with way to much candy for one night.
It is true that Halloween and all other holidays become MAGICAL as you watch the sparks in your childs eyes lighten up and do something for their first time (and actually enjoying it).
HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all you INCREDIBLES out there.
